Confederation Bridge
Project Summary: The Confederation Bridge is one of
this century's engineering marvels. It is one of the worlds' largest
bridges spanning a distance of approximately 14 kilometers and opened in
June of 1997, thus connecting Prince Edward Island to the rest of
Canada.
The bridge is, indeed, a structural marvel, featuring some of the most
advanced electrical and electronic systems currently available.
Richardson Associates (1993) Limited was retained as a subconsultant to
the bridge electrical designers, Stanley Industrial, of Edmonton
Alberta. On behalf of Stanley Industrial we provided the on site
electrical inspection and performance testing services such as:

Installation of cable trays,
conduits, high voltage conductors, grounding, etc. in the bridge
girders. |

Bridge main power supply feeders
and emergency power generation equipment. |

Site inspections during
construction, verification and confirmation of installation
procedures used by the electrical contractor. |

Bridge Operations Building
exterior security systems and CCTV systems. |
|
|
Bridge Toll plaza power, lighting,
and data systems. |
|
|
Verification of lighting levels on
the bridge deck, as well as on the access roads. |
